FLAG FRENZY

This display of early American flags has appeared each summer just around the corner from me.  This year, I was at the right place, with a camera, for the first time ever!

For all of my cynicism regarding the current miserable state of affairs in Wash DC, a display like this can still stir up my basic patriotism, steeped in decades of living on the East Coast, where all the liberty stuff was happening.  I have walked those Revolutionary war battlefields.  I have walked where Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson did.  I have seen the Liberty Bell and Carpenter's Hall...BEFORE National Treasure.  I still treasure the words that were written down in those bygone days, and feel as though they still offer the best assurances for humane and fair treatment...if we can get it right.  Off the soapbox and on to the flags!
